Our Mission

SST addresses this mission by producing the most advanced GIS desktop software for agriculture (SSToolbox and SST Summit), providing data communication standards (agX Platform), and leveraging the latest technologies such as handheld computing (SST Stratus), web-based delivery of information services (FarmRite), and computerized training.

Through the years, SST has invested heavily in the development of a very extensive, scaleable, and holistic information management system for agriculture involving web-based, desktop, and mobile software components. FarmRite is a web-based data-sharing and information-product ordering system that makes use of standardized, consistent data collection and information delivery procedures. Using secure Internet access, end-users have the ability to view and browse their spatial data and information products on-line (including the ability to query user-defined pooled data).
SST Summit Professional, a web-enabled desktop software, has transformed the way many input suppliers are currently doing site-specific data processing. After necessary field data (field boundaries, soil test results, yield data, etc.) are uploaded via Summit Professional to FarmRite, an agronomist can then easily import nutrient recommendations derived from his own equations. He can then select the product, and create, adjust, and export product recommendations all from one screen. SST Summit Professional enables fertility recommendation importing and exporting, GPS data collection, crop planning and budgeting, detailed record keeping, and summary reporting. This system relieves input suppliers from tedious GIS processing at their local level and offloads it to the specialized processing center (FarmRite). SST Summit Professional is an important component of FarmRite for transferring data from the countryside into the FarmRite system.
After several years of concentrating all technology development efforts toward high-end GIS software, SST developed a state-of-the-art mobile spatial data collection software— SST Stratus. SST recognized that farmers were just not finding enough value in the precision agriculture services they had purchased from their local input supplier. Part of the problem was that too much of the day-to-day management activities and inputs for the farm were not being taken into account. Using SST Stratus, the agronomist and/or farmer customer can bring up a field boundary onscreen and notate all the conditions observed or activities applied to that field during a growing season and save it as a spatial record that is then synchronized to SST Summit, a desktop mapping and record keeping application.
